Rascal Flats Supports Hunger Relief

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/30/business/media/country-acts-connect-with-outnumber-hunger-a-charity-advertising.html?_r=1&ref=advertisingandmarketing

The band Rascal Flats is one of the groups of musicians that will be promoted in supermarkets. It is a major in-store marketing effort called Outnumber Hunger. It is a charitable effort to raise $2 million for Feeding America, which is a hunger relief charity. I think it is pretty cool, and it will be good for raising money for charity, for Rascal Flats, for the supermarket, and for General Mills which is a big supporter of Feeding America.

Ford Chief's Pay is Highest in 6 Years

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/31/business/ford-chiefs-pay-is-highest-in-six-years.html?_r=1&ref=business

The chief executive of Ford earned $2 million in salary, a $1.8 million bonus, and stock and option awards valued at about $21.4 million in a year. I find that to be overly excessive and unnecessary. The pay we give them and others like pro ball players is too much. There is no way for them to use all of that money in a year unless they are spending it on expensive luxuries and other unnecessary things. This just bothers me because of the current state of the economy and all of the other things we could put that money towards. I understand that they earn their money like the rest of us, but there is a point where things become ridiculous.

Kony 2012

Well this is a very touchy subject, and I hope that I'm not thought of as heartless for my opinion. Where do i begin? well first off i would like to ask why is it now that we are paying attention to the "invisible children" because some beginning cinematographer wants to do what's right? Sure I feel bad for them, and maybe sometime there will be an appropriate time to save them. i feel like the world has always known about Africa and  their children, but it's now that some guy is shoving it in our faces that we pay attention to it? how absurd. also they want to send more peace troops to get Kony, and this guy can only do that if the people of the untied states want it. Now it seems easy just send some troops and capture or kill Kony, but wait! Kony's organization it's similar to the Taliban. you kill the leader and the next person in charge takes over, it never ends. Also think, if one of our soldiers get shot and killed it could start a war! The goal with capturing Kony is to create peace but i predict that it will only create more hate. i say this because some of our troops will likely be killed which will create a never ending hate cycle in the troop's family.

Kony 2012

I have been a member of ivisable children for almost two years. So thats how i found out about this campain. This is bigger then any of our campains yet. Bigger then the 24 hour silence, by far.

The only way anyone is going to do anything about Kony is if they know about him. This campain is to raise awareness. Nothing more. It doesnt promis that everything will end if you get involved. I simpley states that we the young people of the U.S. are the main front for representation.

Kony 2012

i think that this campaign is not exactly doing anything to solve the problem, jsut spreading awareness of it to people (age 15-23ish) who probably are not likely to do anyting to help besides share the video on facebook or something like that. Also the fact that stuff like this has been going on in Africa for like forever, and this is just one thats gotten a little publicity.

Rush Limbaugh

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/14/business/media/ad-boycott-dents-limbaugh-shows-bottom-line.html?sq=advertising&st=cse&adxnnl=1&scp=2&adxnnlx=1331737308-kHCmALuKyf1UX8zAIC1dRA

I think that they are doing the right thing by convincing companies not to advertise through Rush Limbaugh's radio station. Even though he did apologize for the unacceptable remarks about Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown University Law Student, he should not have made those comments at all. Mabe after they accept his apology( if they ever do) he will be more careful about what he says.

Rush Limbaugh

Rush has chose to say the things he has said on air and now he is paying the price. He needs to learn his lesson and learning he is. With everybody going against him minus a few supporters, he will at some point be ready to give up on what he thinks is right and will never attempt it again.

RE: Kony 2012

Of course we all know about the Kony 2012 business, and I do agree that it's bad and should be stopped. However, the way that they're going about doing it is completely misguided and illegitimate.

First off, they're trying to raise awareness of Kony by spreading around the name. That is going to accomplish nothing, because in the video he said that someone has to know where he is, if only we can get to them. Yes, a lot of people know where he is hiding, but does he honestly think that they're going to openly admit what Kony's plans are, or even where he's located?

Next, Kony isn't even in Uganda anymore. He was last reported there a long time ago, and has been spotted elsewhere. The campaign is trying to assemble people to Uganda, but that's going to accomplish absolutely nothing. They'd be better off trying to find him on Google Maps.

Third, they're wasting more than 70% of the income they're getting. It's a non-profit organization, so they're not getting paid. What does that leave the money to? More advertising. Advertising is getting them nowhere fast, and back to my first point, it isn't going to find Kony. They should donate the money to the government teams, specialists, and resources. With all of the people that found the video and support the cause, they could easily raise millions of dollars. That kind of money would be at better use actually finding him than advertising.

Now, I understand why some people support the cause. Kony is an evil man and should, in every way, shape, and form, be stopped and arrested, if not executed, but this cause isn't going to help. He's been around for years, and just awareness of him hasn't done anything in the past, and won't in the future.

Rush Limbaugh

What he said on air is not right. I think it is right to give him a boycott so he can learn his lesson. He is the 'biggest' radio host in the United States, so there's a lot of people listening to him. So he should know better, that he cannot say whatever he wants to say, especially not on radio.

Rush Limbaugh

I feel that the boycott is deserved. Sure he's allowed to voice his opinion all he wants, it's totally fine but he needs to be prepared for what other people think of it. The advertisers don't want to be associated with his foul language which is also perfectly legal. Even though freedom of speech exists it doesn't mean that it comes without consequences.

Rush Limbaugh

I believe Limbaugh deserves to be fired after his comments. If the Premier Radio Networks are losing money because of him then he should be let go. Inappropriate comments like that should not be made in any work place and it is not right.

Rush Limbaugh

I'm glad there is a boycott going on during the show.  Limbaugh needs to learn what not to say on air, and the fact that they are losing money because of the boycott is a good way to learn that lesson.

Lose you license

This advertisement is very convincing to teenagers who are young drivers and can lose their license. Having to take your date on the back of your bike can deter you from doing anything to lose your license.

common clothing

http://nikhilmisal.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/131.jpg

this ad's slogan "these clothes are made for you" is very effective not only because it's street wear but because it makes the customer feel more comfortable. selling everyday clothing is a good business because there is always a new trend in fashion, and it's more affordable in casual clothing.

Hourglass Global Warming

http://www.demortalz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/advertisements-edition-1-1.jpg

I really liked this ad.  It's an hourglass with a city in the bottom half and the north pole or the arctic on the top half.  The water is slowly going out of the top into the bottom and it's talking about running out of time.  I thought it was really powerful.
